Reliable fix with info you need to know

I bought 2 of these to prepare my 5th and 3rd graders for homeschooling this year. We chose BJU Press Online which is mostly online (with books/tutorials etc.). The fact that they came with a computer, mouse, and WiFi was my main selling point, alongside the fact that they were i3 processors with 16GB of DDR4 memory and an SSD. Here are the notes you need to know: Pros: - Add a monitor and you're done - PC, Windows 10, keyboard, mouse, Wi-Fi all included - The devices themselves look very new, although you'd expect something that usually is on the table - Windows installation was clean (no HP viruses) and without problems - activated without problems - speed is good; i3, 16GB, SSD - ENOUGH power for web apps - they should last my girls for years Cons: - the inside of the devices didn't seem to have been cleaned - I have big dust balls from both - SSD is a brand I've never owned heard of it that gives me no confidence in durability. The keyboard and mouse are the cheapest I've seen, but they work. - I had to use a screwdriver to pry some plastic slag out of the USB port of one of the mice to get it working (interference) - My biggest concern is WiFi. They "achieve" this by giving you a very cheap USB dongle that works great (it runs at N-speed, top speed) but means I'm already giving up the USB connector. Also, one of the girls' computers keeps throwing a USB overvoltage warning. I moved it front to back to see if that makes a difference and it doesn't. This doesn't seem to have caused any real problems yet, but that's about it. So this is a great buy if it lives up to your expectations of what you get and don't get.

Pros
  • Feels good
Cons
  • Not the best
