The clamp is useless unless you have unusually thick pans. I have a Cuisinart pan with contoured edges and it doesn't hold a thermometer. Aside from not being properly calibrated and having no adjustment, it is sent back to Revain. Water boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit at sea level. I'm at 1,000 feet above sea level so it should be 210 degrees Fahrenheit, but when the water boils it barely reaches 200 degrees Fahrenheit. If you "tap" the dial lightly at a certain temperature, it jumps to 10 degrees and just stays there.
