So I went ahead and dropped $8 to see for myself if it would work with emulsions other than the Speedball emulsion mentioned, and of course it did. I can't say if it works better or worse, but I applied it to Ecotex WR-Blue Water Resistant Emulsion, soaked it for 3 minutes and rubbed it with the rough side of the sponge for 5-10 minutes and sure enough it worked. Only did it once and it looks like all the emulsion was removed which made a difference for me. As you can see there are a few thicker areas where the emulsion has built up that hasn't come off, but you could scratch them with your fingernail, I just don't care about those areas of the screen for his next design.
