We have a 12 inch queen foam mattress that was recently upgraded to king so we need to stock a queen. After 2 attempts we got a compressed and bound mattress. The work is ok but not perfect. Bring your own ratchet straps and ropes. Liked: - The queen mattress fits easily in a bag and closes. - Using a 5 gallon vacuum, we reduced the thickness of the mattress to a few inches in 15 minutes. Dislikes: - The plastic is very brittle and brittle (like other vacuum bags I've had in the past). Ours has a hole that we sealed with gorilla tape. The packaging does not escape the certainty that it will remain compressed for more than a short time. - The included straps are useless - they don't cover the entire bag - they were about 5 inches shorter to even fit the buckle, plus an additional 12 inches to have some leverage to tighten. We ended up using ratchet straps, and then a rope to hold it in place. ro-tips - Suck out the air, use the ratchet strap to roll up the mattress, then tie the mattress together with string like roast beef! Finally, loosen the ratchet straps. - Wrap an extra layer of plastic/blanket to prevent tearing of the fragile vacuum bag. - Seal the holes with Gorilla Tape. - When packing, position the vacuum port on the outside so it's accessible later in case you need to re-vacuum.
