I bought this leash set so that every door in our house has an "emergency leash". One of my dogs is a master escape and while we are working on getting her to behave better (she was recently rescued) we needed a cheap leash to catch her on all our doors. We have enough of this set to have one in each of our cars just in case we have to deal with a lost dog on the road (which has happened a number of times!). For the emergency catch of dogs, they are well suited as a small lasso. catch my dog before he goes too far. They hang nicely on a small nail or hook on any door and you can loop them around and get going right away. They seem to be long lived and we had no problem getting a refugee home with them. They come in different colors which is a lot of fun.
