I don't think I know anything about this Chromebook drain concept. I thought since this is a "new" it will be updated for a little over two years. I'm a little frustrated but we're in a pandemic so I should just be glad it's taking so long to update. I would advise you to contact the seller and ask if this applies to you. I'm tired of feeling left out. All this, as they say, works very well. The keyboard is way better than the almost identical Samsung Chromebook I've had before. Kind of easier to type. The sound quality is good. I bought primarily for streaming TV. The mouse is also much easier to use.
