Okay, to be honest, this was one of those toys that as a design-minded parent I bought mainly for myself. I like the colors of the rainbow, irregular fitted shapes and the theme of natural elements. But my 3 year old was just as addicted to it as I was and still plays with it a lot after a few weeks. It's good as a puzzle, but even better for open-ended creative play: She built tunnels for toy cars and horses, laying them together like a track and trying to balance them in a fun way. They are also great for learning colors. The overall puzzle is a bit larger than I expected but it's my fault for not reading the specs and I wish the tray it comes in was designed to hold the puzzle vertically and display, so that we can enjoy its beauty while standing on a bookshelf or otherwise when not in use. (We usually lean it against the wall at an angle, and that works well.) The pieces are durable wood, but not as heavy as some of the wood blocks we had, which is nice too. It's worth it.
