We've used most of our plastic utensils since he first learned to eat solid foods and I wanted something 'bigger'. He loves it very much! The spoon is a bit big for him (but it's small for his age), but he handles it pretty well without making a mess. The knife is "sharp" (I use the term loosely) so he can practice slicing fruit and cheese but won't hurt him while he works on those skills. The tines of the fork, in turn, are "sharp" enough to pierce the food relatively easily without injuring it.
