GE cleverly engineered a method to compel its customers to purchase only GE replacement water filters! This filter is half the price and works with a huge catch: you must peel off the sensor from the original GE filter and apply it to the back of this new one in order to trick your fridge into thinking you installed another GE product. Otherwise, dispenser shuts down. No worky. The "good" news is this filter is half the price, this work-around does work, but the bad news is your fridge detects that same old GE filter and will continue to display the warning to change your filter! Sure would have been nice if that nugget of info was included in the marketing description. No leaks yet (per prior reviews), but watching closely. In sum, I can live with the warning on the screen, but dissatisfied the manufacturer didn't make this known up front.
