DON'T UNDERSTAND! I was told to try it and I decided to get it. Do a typical filter prep and rinse the actual filter/charcoal part with water and make sure it has been clean for a good 3 minutes before using it. I put it in my aquarium, filled it with aquarium water and all the minerals, tested the water and everything was perfect! I started the filter and immediately small black flakes fell from above! So I repeated the whole process a second time. Looked good! Until I put my fish, snails and shrimp in it. My Pleco crashed into her and what's up? dark spots. and after a few minutes my aquarium became very black and cloudy. I pulled out all my fish but apparently not fast enough (only about 2 minutes while preparing to pull them out). My Pleco lasted the longest but my other fish died. Pleco did it for about an hour. I took them to my aquarium store and they told me they had CARBON PARTICLES in their mouths and gills and stuff. they choked on the coal. I tried to get the filter to work in the empty tank I had and still do. A whole week with daily full change and even 25% water change, the filter didn't give up! I've spent all my money on this and all I have left are my 3 shrimp and 2 snails! No fish! PLEASE KEEP YOUR FISH AND DO NOT RECEIVE THIS FILTER! JE! I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING!
