Over the last few years I have bought and installed camera systems for family, work etc. So I had no hope of being able to replace our aging system. System on our home farm. Bad memories of open ports, DDNS setup, buggy phone apps, intermittent cameras, and running BNC cables to a bunch of new cameras filled me. After some serious research, I finally settled on the Reolink POE system. After installing it, I have to admit I'm very impressed. The first pleasant surprise was the ease of connection. Just scan the QR code on the front of the device and suddenly we're talking to all the cameras. The next pleasant surprise was the application for the iPhone. Again, we simply scan the QR code with the iPhone camera and immediately see all our cameras. No port forwarding settings, no DDNS configurations, etc. It was great. And now my favorite surprise is the wiring. I have found that if I install an inexpensive POE switch in a remote location, I can operate cameras from that POE switch instead of running a new cable back to the camera NVR. Big! I installed a 5-port POE switch in our shed (about 250ft from the NVR box in the basement of the house) and connected it to our router. Now using CAT6 cabling I can add up to 4 cameras in and around the shed without the need for separate cable glands to the NVR. I also increased the distance to the NVR! Just fantastic. We currently have 11 cameras connected including 1 for wildlife surveillance over the next field and tree line. Grandson loves looking at this camera in the dark, looking at the deer and zooming in with the touch of a finger. We're still tweaking motion sensitivity (too sensitive in the factory settings) and push notifications, but when we're done this should be a valuable addition to our farm. I was not disappointed with this purchase, I will definitely be buying more.
