Just got this and have used it 4-5 times. I can't understand why this thing is so cheap. It's built fairly solidly, precise as it should be in this style, and the fit and finish are of good quality. I mainly use it as a location layer but really only use the vertical ability to angle the corners of buildings and sometimes calculate the approximate height of a building. I doubt the vertical reading (sorry I can't remember the correct term for it) is very accurate, but it can give you an accurate reading for coarser work. Used as a degree value, it seems more than accurate for most build tolerances. The case in which it is delivered is acceptable and should take a while but nothing to write home about. Overall it seems good enough for high rise construction and seems strong enough to last a while at a construction site. I probably wouldn't recommend it as a true surveying tool, but great for a contractor.
