Review on Planet Bike 3040 Superflash Headlight by Peter Sullivan

The rear light is perfect - no question about it. My problem is with the 1/2W headlight. It works great for being "seen" but not enough light to "see" on dark, unlit streets. I like to use this combo for those evenings when I'm driving and get caught just after sunset and it's still light enough to see something. It's also a decent flashlight for city driving where there's a lot of ambient light from roads, cars, and other sources. I wouldn't recommend it as the only light source. One night I was stuck on a lonely, unlit bike lane and at my average bike speed (17 mph) I could hardly react fast enough. The light didn't have enough range, forcing me to slow down so I didn't race with the light. It's still a great light combo for general use, but I definitely need to find a brighter light for late-night commuting.
