Review on 📀 Toshiba SD-4990 DVD Player with Progressive Scan and Upconverting Features by Nelson Calafell

I've only had this DVD player for a few days, but I haven't encountered any of the problems others have mentioned. For example, I didn't have to hook up my DVD player via S-Video or component to set it up for HDMI. I just plugged in an HDMI cable and it worked with my TV. Also, someone else mentioned that the charging cradle was very noisy. Funny - mine is very quiet. Time will tell if mine will start blocking like the others. Because of this issue, I purchased a $12 2-year extended warranty. The picture looks fantastic in 480p, 720p and 1080i on my 40 inch LCD. Like others, I didn't notice a huge difference in the settings, but I think 720p looks *slightly* better than the other two cons of standby mode: startup is a bit slow, possible freeze/flashing issues Overall, I'm glad that I did Don't overpay for an HDMI DVD player Here's also a tip to save a few more bucks - DO NOT buy HDMI or other cables at your local electronics store. I've seen HDMI cables on Revain and other sites that cost half the price for the same length and brand. Don't spend more than $30-$40 on an HDMI cable.
