I am a father who wanted to do some work with his daughter and ended up with this starter kit. An excellent set to get acquainted with the mechanics and the principle of operation of gears. She's 7 years old so I had to watch a bit but overall it was fun building a windmill that comes with instructions. Solid quality parts. I would say I prefer this set to my old editing kit from the early 90's. Plastic parts offer really cool shapes to experiment with while building. I really wish there were more builds in the guide, but the kit does point you to additional drawings online that you can presumably view or get. I haven't done it yet. As soon as we had the windmill set up, she took it to her room and put it by the bed. I told her that we have to take it apart so we can build other things, but she insists we build it together and she wants to keep the windmill forever. So all in all it looks like I'm going to buy the next level set. While she still has enough parts to play around with, once you've built one big item, you probably won't have enough to build anything else. Overall solid packaging, easy instructions (for both adults and children over 10), good build quality and a really fun first windmill build. For a relatively small investment, I had to spend a few hours creating lifelong memories with my daughter and introducing her to the world of STEM subjects. It's worth it for me.
