Prior to that, I used the Asus RT-AC-56U router, and there were issues with 5GHz network coverage; for example, when I went to the second floor of the house, the WiFi signal vanished entirely, and I had to actively seek it out. Since the provider also uses Ubiquiti gear, I eventually wore out and switched to all Ubiquiti: USG router + switch with PoE + UniFi AC LR + CloudKey. The kit ended up being pricey because of CloudKey, but it has several benefits. The PoE injector is built into the access point. The point can be quickly set up using either CloudKey, which serves as a server and controller for all UniFi gear, or the corresponding software (for Mac, Windows, and Linux). In both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, I now have a single primary wireless network (with a single network name). We also set up a separate, open network just for guests, with its own IP address and no connection to the main network (Internet). It requires a password before you may connect to it. Even though there is only one access point, seamless roaming has been announced. Reliable reception within a range of 30-40 meters (switches devices at 2.4 GHz with a poor signal at 5 GHz) demonstrates outstanding coverage. While the setup may not be simple, if the hands and head are in the right places, everything should go off without a hitch.
