This product is perfect for what I needed - it's an improvement over a kitchen or pocket scale. It's easy to calibrate, has a lot more settings than advertised, and seems very accurate. I can use it to measure the specific gravity of my brewed beer and calculate the strength fairly accurately, which tells a lot. The base unit feels pretty solid and I love that it has a built in spirit level that you can use to adjust the legs. My ONLY complaint is that I basically have to throw away the plastic case shown in the picture. For assembly you have to press the plastic box onto the scale. It is put on a ring with two tongues. THEN place the metal base of the scale (whatever you place the sample you want to weigh onto) ABOVE the plastic. The plastic case doesn't fit and doesn't hold anything in place. he swings I have found that the plastic case introduces an error of 0.013 +/- grams, which is outside the tolerance of the scale. The plastic case is designed to improve accuracy by ensuring that fluctuations in barometric pressure do not affect the readings. he does exactly the opposite. I cut off the plastic casing and got 0.001 +/- grams which is pretty much within specs. In short, this product is affordable and works great. Don't expect to use a plastic case.
