The attachment point on the gate had to be moved inwards due to the shorter length of the gate controller compared to the original version replaced. Only two new holes had to be drilled to move the bracket. All installation instructions assume you have enough space near the gate to access the control panel, but I don't have space at all where the gate opens right next to the inner fence. This prevents access to the main switch when the gate is in the open position. Soldering the remote switch in parallel with the SPST slide switch on the board allowed me to reuse my remote toggle switch that I had previously wired in series with the battery in the original unit's control module housing. I've seen comments from others reporting the need to add an extension antenna to improve remote reception. The mine operates 140 feet from the entrance, so there is no need to open the exit gate. The return doesn't work that well, but that's because the chain link fence and field fence are blocking the signal from the tiny antenna on this new version of the control module. I couldn't find any instructions on how to use the remote antenna I installed on the original unit, so I may need to use that before the upcoming rainy season. The power supply is different from the original - this new one has a DC secondary winding as opposed to the original 18 volt AC, so I skipped using AC and added a 10W solar panel in parallel with the 5W block. we already had that. It will be interesting to see if the dual solar panels can keep the battery charged during the winter months. The 5-watt device didn't fare well here in Portland, Oregon.
