I bought this because our basement was constantly flooding. I put one on the back door, one on the stove, and one on the holding tank of our basement toilet. Less than a month later, a loud alarm went off in our basement from one of those little water leak detectors. This immediately alerted us, and our family jumped up and began fighting the flood. It took us several hours to control the incoming water and 60 towels to stem the tide, but without sensors, our basement would have been completely flooded and all of our furniture, including our new pool table, would have been completely destroyed. The following year, due to low freon levels, our furnace began to freeze. This started leaking. Another of these sensors tripped, saving our basement from a flood again. The best investment I have ever made and such a great price!
