I think it looks a lot better than the plastic alternatives but it will last a lot less if left outside. This swing is meant to be stored when not in use, not only so it will last longer but also to keep crawling bugs off of it (they have those 2 pillows and all those bug holes for them to hide in). They come with all the necessary hardware for a very stable installation. assembly is relatively easy. No tools are required for the swing itself, just equipment for attaching hooks. I have to say that the included hardware is absolute overkill, but nice to have. It can also be used with a rope on a branch attached to carabiners (safe of course). My only issue with the swings is that the cushions are very fragile but they can be replaced, changed or even removed so it's not a big deal. The small car drawing on the canvas is cute and gives the swing even more "grandpa game" feeling.
