Bad point/advice, far from a perfect manufacturer answer.

I bought watercolor paints early on in college and while it wasn't what I was hoping for, I wasn't sure if it was "normal". for this brush, which is why I didn't come back. I decided it was my bad technique. After learning a little more and trying a few other brushes (including Jackson's Art's amazing "Raven" goose brush, which was 1/4 the price of this Casaneo), I realized that fake squirrel brushes don't behave that way should. They should be at least peninsular in shape when wet. Dry, many excellent goose brushes are not sharp at all, but this can be normal. I didn't have a wet photo when I did the review) and you can see that all of these brushes have a nicer tip than my Casaneo even when dry. Everyone else comes into pretty spots when wet, and Raven holds the same amount of water as Casaneo. The Princeton Neptune has similar water holding capacity and a slightly better tip (although it's still less "sharp" than other faux squirrel brushes in the comparison photo). The sharpest, fastest brushes last less than the Casaneo, Raven, or Princeton Neptune. I think that's pretty typical. The Princeton Neptune looks messy in the photo, but it's just dry brush fibers that stick to the paper towel. The brush works perfectly and is in perfect condition. I contacted Da Vinci to see if this was the typical, normal condition of her hands and was asked to send photos, both wet and dry. These are the same photos in my review. They replied that they could not determine if the brush was defective or if it was normal/expected performance and I would have to send them the brush to determine. The cheapest shipping to Germany from the USA costs almost as much as a brush, so I decided against shipping. The support rep was very nice and while I don't think a company should be obligated to replace or fix an issue, without being sure it's his fault it still isn't what I consider fantastic customer service. I have mixed feelings about this because I understand that there are many people who abuse return and warranty policies, but at the same time watercolor brushes can be quite expensive and the result for someone like me (who most likely bought a faulty brush) is that I I will be buying from the company MUCH less often in the future. CSR said Casaneo tips should keep their tip, but I probably won't spend my budget on a DaVinci brush in the future. If it is a quality control issue I would expect most companies to replace the rarely used brush which is relatively expensive. If I hadn't found Raven Jackson I might consider buying a Da Vinci pen from Blick who has really great customer service (I'm sure I could exchange or return it if there was a problem). If Princeton Neptune made a small pen, I would definitely buy one too... By the way, when I contacted Princeton about one of their budget brushes, I got a response from "Howard" who I believe is the owner of is less than 24 hours. My question was not a problem/complaint and could only theoretically result in a sub-$10 purchase, so the answer is a tribute to their overall approach to customer service. It also influenced my future purchases: Since then I've spent $150-$250 on Princeton Aqua Elite brushes, which are their highest quality synthetic watercolor brushes. I try to support companies that I have had good experiences with and I felt comfortable investing in the fact that if there was an issue, Princeton would be there to support their products. Thankfully, all of Princeton's brushes met my expectations. I also plan to buy more Neptunes when I can control the water better. I suspect that my Casaneo pen was defective (based on third-party photos), that if there was a problem, Princeton would be there to support their products.
