Review on πŸ–₯️ Satechi Type-C Aluminum Stand & Hub - USB-C Data Port, Micro/SD Card Readers, USB 3.0 & Headphone Jack - Compatible with 2020 & 2018 Mac Mini (Space Gray) by Tyler Fountas

useful but not perfect

My Satechi USB-C hub arrived today and I just installed it. now drive over the front USB port. So far, so good. But the front connections are only "up to 5 Gbps", so the backup will be very slow. The size and shape are exactly the same as the Mac mini (aside from the height, of course), so they look like they go together from this point of view. - Installation couldn't be easier as this is an unpowered hub. Disadvantages so far: - The packaging is incredibly complicated. Ironically, this product is designed for use with a Mac, as the packaging it comes in is the least Apple-like I've seen. Basically you need to open the outer box and then open the inner box to get the item. The color doesn't quite match the space gray Mac mini. It has slightly more silver and less coal. There's a tiny LED on the front to show it's plugged in and getting power. This LED should be, and is, directly below the power LED on a Mac mini. But the LED is about 10 times smaller than on a Mac. It's so small I can't even see it's lit from most angles. It's dimmer than the reflections from the USB-C port next to it. If I look straight ahead I can see that they are about equally bright, but the light on the hub is set back much further, making it almost invisible from a different angle.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Running
