The tape is strong, fairly clean, the 3M backing is hard but the mark is erased instantly. Not valid for an item described as suitable for workbenches. I had an old Starrett tape that lasted as long as the old countertop (about 6 years). I swapped out the countertop and bought it 3 weeks ago to replace the old tape. Some of the markings on this tape have already worn off. This is not a full-time pro shop, just a weekend warrior setup. I could see it working great on a sewing table or anywhere where there is no friction. But there is no room for it in my workshop.
