I recently ordered this Canon PowerShot A810 digital camera to replace an old Fuji digital camera that had finally given up the ghost . This new Canon digital camera is mostly comparable to the Fuji camera I had. The optical zoom of both cameras is 5x, and the image quality is about the same between Canon and Fuji cameras. But the Canon camera takes photos a bit slower, especially when using flash. This Canon A810 camera is pretty easy to use and takes pretty good general purpose photos. I take a lot of landscape photos with this camera and it does a pretty good job with these photos. This camera uses regular SD or SDHC cards, which is a big plus! Also, this camera uses 2 AA batteries, another nice plus. I can take maybe a few hundred no-flash photos with a couple of "AA" batteries, and maybe 60 photos with a lot of flash with a set of "AA" batteries. The video on this camera isn't bad, but I don't take a lot of video with a basic digital camera unless it's an emergency. Overall this is a good basic digital camera that takes decent photos for family or group photography and the fairly compact size makes it easy to slip in your pocket!
