Dewalt advertises it as Wet/Dry. I thought I would use this for spot cleaning; I am a professional carpet cleaner. There is no float ball/cage cut-off on this model. I've had several portable wet vacuums that are protected from water and scum passing through the vacuum fan with a float ball that closes the fan inlet when full. Even wet/dry vacuums have this. I took it apart and found that if water and/or suds were to flow through the fan, that moisture would blow into the vacuum and make contact with all of the electrical connections. A big oversight on Dewalt's part. I figured it would be constructed the same as its big brother DCV581H which has a float/cage/ball that seals when filled with liquid. Although it absorbs quite well. As a dry vacuum cleaner I've found it handy for my cars and trucks. I get 10 full minutes before the included battery shows 1 bar remaining (charging indicator, 3 bars). I just won't use it with moisture.
