Review on Quick Release Dog Backpack by Outward Hound Kyjen by Maribel Gilbe

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for daily walks and runs

My dog gets about 5-10 miles of exercise in the form of walks, runs, runs or bike rides. She goes through snow, rain, beach, woods and suburbs with this backpack filled with 12-ounce water bottles on each side. I bought this bag a year ago and it's still holding up. It's a little shabby, but not much worse than mine in elementary school. With daily use it had to wear out. I was so worried it was going to stop (that he's running low) and I'm glad I bought a second one. These bags are big. My dog is a boxer mix (50lbs) and the average size was a bit large. The little one is compact enough to drive it at full extension. The straps are long, but that's fixable. As the size increases, there are differences in features - medium and large backpacks in particular have a bungee storage system in the front, which can be useful for a dog coat or towel. It would have been nice to have this in a small size, but I'm not a designer so this feature may not be feasible. In addition, the handle is useful when trying to lift or reposition the dog. The pads next to the clamps move. a lot, which can cause stomach irritation in some dogs. This is something you need to get creative with to anticipate your dog's needs. I wrap the backpack around her jacket or sweater and it helps. I wouldn't recommend letting your dog wear a backpack while you're playing with other animals or if you plan to let your dog swim (for obvious reasons).
