In 2018 this is not the same product as in 2015. Chinese quality, American price

Expensive and doesn't fit well. Do not buy, I bought it to use as a knee pad. This is a regular knee pad, just as comfortable as other $40 knee pads. The clips are suitable for different types of iPads, but you have a clipboard that is not properly protected to avoid scratching/damaging your iPad screen. The clipboard is printed with IFR and VFR checklists. The silkscreen is not applied very well and one side looks faded, not as sharp. Little attention to detail and poor quality. I bought this thinking I could use it with the rest of the MyGoFlight aircraft mount system. Spring. It no longer has a rear magnetic circuit that allows installation, it's basically incompatible with the rest of their lineup. They used to have an amazing line of products but now they have made them more expensive and incompatible with the existing product. I've used it for a few flights with a single V-tail. The left side of the clipboard bothers the coquette, I think. the? You cannot use it completely openly. I would even say poorly designed. As I wrote above, you cannot use an aluminum clipboard with an iPad, you risk damaging the iPad's screen if you forget and close it. There are no rubber guards on the aluminum clipboard to prevent this. If you have an iPad, you cannot use the clipboard. This is a cheap Chinese knee brace that probably cost them $10 but is selling for a staggering $129. Chinese quality, American price. There are other knee pads including the traditional tri-fold Jeppesen and ASA that cost 1/3 the price and perform the same function. They also don't have a left side shield to get in the way of the yoke, so the fact that it opens wide doesn't matter on yoked airplanes. I'm returning this one and changing it to either ASA or Flight Outfitters. I've been to Sporty's before and seen all three side by side. The quality of all three is the same, the ASA and Flight components are $60 and $70 respectively, while this one costs $130. It costs no more than $10 compared to Flight Outfitters IMO.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Not everything fits
