I thought it could run and charge on battery power but it doesn't, it needs constant power from the USB power cable. This is good as it gets enough energy to keep it fogged up and moist. I have to use a sleep apnea ventilator in my bedroom, which does have a humidifier but doesn't work as well in the winter when the air is particularly dry. I had a larger humidifier for the room, but it's difficult to carry, refill, and position every day. I can use both when the air is drying out from sub-zero temperatures, but I need more comfort for normal winter days. It goes away over time and since then I've been able to keep it right next to me on my bedside table. I have less dry mouth when using a respirator. It helps keep my teeth and makes my breath a little fresher in the morning. Inexpensive and works long enough to get a good rest. highlighted.
