Review on Swift Lacis Yarn Winder by Gelin Battle

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Design flaw

My only complaint is annoying. This is the main design flaw. The metal loops holding the plastic rods in place are folded into the twine. If your winder is not positioned exactly in the path where the yarn comes out of the swift exactly centered, the yarn will hang on the loops as it tilts up or down. A fairly simple solution is to hold the yarn so that it feeds the swift right down the middle. The downside is that if you wind up a lot of yarn, you have to be prepared for the rope to burn your hands. Also, I haven't had any other issues with this Swift. It folds nicely into its own little holder and works well enough. You get what you pay for and it has worked well so far. UPDATE: Some of my complaints are related to user error, but not all. The pole that attaches to the Swift can be adjusted up and down and at an angle, eliminating many of the problems with yarn catching in the metal loops. I still want the loops to just point at a smooth angle rather than creating a hooked effect on the ends. Having figured that out, I'm going to give these gadgets a 4 instead of my original 3. can be adjusted up and down and in angle, eliminating many problems with thread snagging in metal loops.
