Review on Processor Intel Core i7-3820 LGA2011, 4 x 3600 MHz, BOX by Boyan Georgiev ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I like the product, the quality didn't let me down.

It makes sense to take only for applications that use more than 4 threads. For gamers, regular Sandy/Ivy Bridges are better (and cheaper) Overclockers - stock up on a good CBO or top-end air cooler. Some pros: Excellent performance in 3D rendering and other multi-threaded applications. Got cons: Very hot stone, and therefore low overclocking potential (compared to Sandy Bridge / Ivy Bridge). Even though I don't have the top-end cooler (Noctua NH-C14), but still: At 3.8GHz/12022V under Linpack load, it does not heat up above 69 degrees, but then it starts to require more voltage and already at 4.2GHz/1.27V under load it heats up to 88 degrees. and hello throttling.
