Review on Under Armour Showdown Shorts X 🩲 Large - Ultimate Active Wear for Boys' Clothing by Devin Bro

Comfortable, quick-drying fabric meets structured style

My son is 8 years old. He has entered an odd phase where he will ONLY wear running shorts or sweatpants. And only brands, thanks. It's summer and we're at home, so everything's fine. But when I saw these Under Armor shorts - short but cut like "real" chinos - I HAD to buy them. You are the best of both worlds. I ordered a size 8 for this. It seems to fit right between a 7 and 8 in other Under Armor products we've received recently. When they arrived they looked huge! I was definitely skeptical. And he too. But then I adjusted the built-in adjustable strap (seriously, these things are AWESOME!) and we were both thrilled that they fit perfectly. He's worn them a few times and seems to like them a lot. They're from Under Armor, so they tick off the "brand name" requirement, which he immediately seems to have. He likes that they have pockets. The quick-drying fabric is ideal for hot summer days. He can move around in them easily and doesn't complain about them being "tight" like he does when I make him wear regular shorts. I like that the length is long enough that he can wear it for long periods of time with the adjustable strap tension that adjusts as he grows. This is so rare in children's clothing! As a mom who sometimes wants her kids to look groomed, I appreciate that these shorts have more structure and style than running shorts. He can wear them with a simple polo and look very presentable. The quality is excellent, as I have come to expect from Under Armor products. They wash well and won't crease after several days in the laundry basket. My son is rough with clothes like most kids his age and they hold up very well. I highly recommend these shorts. I think I can get another pair!

Pros
  • How sweet
Cons
  • Not strong enough for active kids.
