Design changed but I like it better. The straw is now assembled and screwed to the underside of the lid. The old design just used a straw that you put in a rubber grommet and sometimes it just popped off. Since the straws are only suitable for these children and have a uniform color, I always know which straw goes in which cup and less often lose straws in my straw drawer. My 5 year old has switched from the smaller children's version of these Contigo cups. Also, they are a bit heavy for him. To his computer and other school stuff, so I usually only fill 3/4 of the way when he takes her to school. If you don't press the locking button to lock the lid it can leak which has been in my son's backpack a few times since he was 5 and sometimes forgets to lock it. I love that this new style has a hook built into the handle and while we don't use the hook that often we haven't had any breaks as other reviewers have mentioned. Maybe they had a bad batch? Overall I would buy again and love them. One of the few water bottles that don't typically leak when used as directed.
