Review on 🏠 Transform Your Home Connectivity with Magic 2 WiFi Next - Whole Home Powerline Kit by Brian Kingsford

Reliable power solution but Wi-Fi functionality useless

I used another power solution from HomePlug AV and g.nh. I am currently using a different brand g.nh device at home. I was curious if using this devolo Magic 2 WiFi Next would extend my WiFi coverage. It's been a bit disappointing so far. Here is an overview. What I like about this product: - Reliable network with reasonably low ping latency. My son plays some kind of esports game and is very sensitive to network latency. This powerline solution definitely lives up to its expectations: - Good speed, but there are some bottlenecks. I have a 200/10 network and the download speed I've tested with this power line is around 180/10. Your mileage may vary as speed is affected by electrical interference in your home. What I don't like: - "devolo Magic 2" is not compatible with other "g.nh" adapters. This is frustrating as the only way to upgrade is to buy an adapter from the same brand. WLAN works like an "extension cable", but not like a mesh system. There is a key difference between a Wi-Fi extender and a Wi-Fi mesh. - Pretty cumbersome, although that's to be expected for g.nh adapters. - Expensive and also quite expensive. I hope that this technology will mature and ultimately reduce the cost of production. Conclusion: I think the LAN-only solution is the best, and the Wi-Fi extension is generally useless. If you want to build a network using your electrical grid, I would suggest that you get a LAN only solution and use your own router. I do not recommend the Wi-Fi solution provided by Devolo Magic 2. I hope you find this review helpful and thank you for reading.
