Common issues with forgetting the sketch/loader loop

Two of my three boards failed to program at all, the power LED was on but they didn't work. t is defined by Arduino IDE or device manager. One of the boards was found and I was able to upload a sketch to it, the sketch worked as long as the board was plugged in after programming. After power cycling the board, the sketch doesn't run. Either the sketch was forgotten or the bootloader got stuck, I'm not sure. The seller refunded the money for the purchase with no problems, and I ordered another set. hoping for better luck on this one.
