Review on REOLINK RLC-520 Outdoor 5MP PoE IP Camera: High-Definition Video Surveillance for Smart Homes, with 100ft IR Night Vision, Motion Detection, and Micro SD Card Support (up to 128GB, card not included) by Chris Endricko

The new hardware version is scrap, firmware for 5xxx cameras is not yet available.

I bought 4 Reolink cameras in 2018 and they gradually changed the hardware versions from 4MP to 5MP. I have no problems with these cameras. You still work for me. However, I recently bought RLC-410-5MP and RLC-420-5MP at the same time in January 2019 and these are new versions. Here are the problems I found: 1- The camera freezes and freezes randomly when using the windows client or web interface 2- When motion is detected and recorded, the camera freezes and freezes when using the windows client or the web interface These two issues existed on both cameras (410 and 420) and I was using the latest Reolink Windows Client v7.2.2.28. My four other cameras are still fine. They go to the manufacturer's website and find that they haven't released any firmware for these new 51xx cameras. I understand that they may not be aware of the issues or that a bad batch may have been put on the market. Certainly there are many good reviews on these two models. Unfortunately I have to send them back as they are unusable. I'm not going to buy the old 4MP models just to see if they're better because stocks are running low and you don't know what you'll get next time or in a year or two when you need a replacement. Too risky and uncomfortable to handle. Too bad I really like their windows pc client for recording motion detection on my dedicated windows 10 pc.Switched to another brand for consistent quality.
