Review on Orange Morakniv Companion Outdoor Knife - 4.1-Inch Sandvik Stainless Steel Blade For Camping And Hiking (M-11824) by Eric Budd

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice basic knife - my new review

I've had a nice Cold Steel knife for many years, it's what I used to carry in my USCG days. Problem I had with it was it's heavy and it was a high carbon steel type, which rusts if you don't maintain them really well. Since I needed a good reliable knife for camping, I was looking for something that was light and didn't require quite so much maintenance. I was searching for options and kept coming up with knives that appeared to be marketed towards the Prepper Nut/Zombie Apocalypse/Rambo wannabe. Also didn't want to spend a lot of money on something that might get easily lost. My searches kept coming up with Mora Knives, and I'm happy I found them. Maybe not the "Best" knife in the world, but for my application and for the very reasonable price, it was just what I was looking for. I'd certainly buy another if I needed one.

Pros
  • Versatile fixed-blade outdoor knife with a 4.1-inch hardened Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel blade is ideal for carving, food prep, and cutting tinder
Cons
  • The knife may not be ideal for precision cutting tasks
