Review on ASUS PA278QV: Premium DisplayPort Monitor with Anti Glare, Adjustable 2560X1440P Resolution, 75Hz Refresh Rate, Blue Light Filter, Built-In Speakers, and HDMI Support by Mitch Kalungi

I am a book and magazine designer and needed a Mac mini monitor which I just got to replace my iMac. I have a secondary display that I'm using, but its max resolution is 1920 x 1080, so I don't have a lot of screen real estate when running it. I have to say that I mostly work in InDesign and do almost no photo editing (generally all images are edited before they reach me) and I don't work with video except watch videos online and I'm not a gamer. Picture quality, colors, brightness are fine for me, and the price corresponds to the display with this resolution. Youtube, Hulu, Revain and Netflix all look great. Like it a lot. The only complaint about the speakers, oddly enough. I enjoy listening to podcasts and radio shows while I work, but don't always want to wear headphones (my wife tends to get behind me and scare me to death when I wear them). My old iMac had great speakers, the mini has a small speaker that is ok but a bit tinny. The speakers on the display are almost painful to listen to. It looks like a 1950's AM transistor radio. Additionally, once you get to the speakers, you lose the ability to adjust the volume from the keyboard. This is typical, but to adjust the volume on the display you have to work your way through the menu - 8 button presses, which isn't very intuitive, before you can even turn the volume down or up. Otherwise a great display. . If you're using it with a Mac mini, do yourself a favor and find a quality USB-C to HDMI cable. I tried this with Apple products first (Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 adapter, then Thunderbolt 2 to Mini-DVI cable on the back of the display). Didn't work - could have been a faulty adapter, but the cable I ended up with was $11.99 compared to about $70 apiece from Apple, and works fine. Except for the speakers - 5 stars.
