I bought another device elsewhere and it didn't work properly. However, it worked like a champ! I bought this to replace my Hampton Bay fan/light that was no longer working consistently. I've had the house for 17 years and the previous owner installed a fan/light so the old remote had to be replaced. I liked it so much I ordered another one to put in the living room! The assembly was a bit fiddly, but took less than 3 minutes. On first use, the light and fan turned on and off. However, the fan speed did not change from low to medium to high. The trick was to turn off the fan and lights with the pull chains, then turn on the lights and fan with the remote. Worth every penny!
