Disappointing "STEM " kit

Got this for my 8 year old girl as a Christmas present with intentions of building it with her. Firstly, the instructions are not as simple and clear as one would expect from a product for children of this age group. My daughter can assemble Lego sets and models from several hundred pieces without help, and she had her hands up in about 15 minutes. Assembly pictures are difficult to read and do little to illustrate the relationships between parts in a way that is easily reproducible. I actually had to go back and take it apart in a few places because I couldn't make out a few tiny parts that assembled well but were needed elsewhere - tiny connector stubs that looked the same but were slightly different. You might also think that the STEM kit includes some basic wiring components that need to be installed to teach basic electrical knowledge. No, the car base is a complete assembly with no access to the electrics. All you do is assemble a complex and fragile Lego-like body that needs to be snapped onto the frame without falling apart (not easy), which then disintegrates once it hits the object. Hard pass, look elsewhere for a better STEM experience.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Speed
