Long story short, I would give my MacBook Air to one of my children. I needed a replacement quickly and didn't want to spend €1000 so I looked for alternatives. To be honest it helps me that I can connect to my work email (which is PC only) and I've tried PC from Mac. Avita is VERY good, especially for the money. A few things to note: Battery life is decent, but a far cry from a MacBook or expensive travel PCs. I usually have about 4 hours of normal work (cafe work, checking emails, etc.). If I turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. and just work in Word or PowerPoint, I can get 5 hours. The touchpad is big, but after using a Mac it just sucks. It's tolerable (for the most part), but I usually use my Bluetooth mouse and that limits my frustration. A huge plus is that it has a USB-C connector that supports universal charging! That means the new MacBook charger works just like a regular MacBook USB-C charger ($25 at Revain). They are MUCH easier to live/travel with and I hate proprietary chargers. I was so excited to see the charging light come on when I plugged my wife's MacBook Pro charger into it. Within 10 minutes I ordered a generic which works great! The screen is really good. Almost as good as my MacBook Air, but nowhere near as good as the high-end Pro. It's easy to watch all day long and I have no complaints. The keyboard is near perfect - an exact replica of Apple's design and features. Overall, the performance is fantastic for everyday office use. I can usually keep the entire Office suite open, Chrome with 10-15 tabs and a few specialized apps. zero problems. 8 GB RAM, i5 and SSD = great laptop for everyday travel. To be honest, this laptop should cost $500 - and at that price it would still be a good deal. At $300 it's a bargain. If the touchpad was better, I'd be in heaven. Needless to say, it's a goalkeeper.
