Review on 🔊 Powerful and Sleek SMSL SA50 50Wx2 TDA7492 Class D Amplifier + Power Adapter (Black) by Adrienne Gonzalez

I bought this amp a year and a half ago and used it on my desk to power a pair of Micca MB42X speakers for several hours almost every day. Let's start with the fact that this thing is powerful. I don't think I've ever set a dial past 12 o'clock, and 12 o'clock is LOUD. The room fills up loudly. With normal desk usage, with my computer running at full volume, I rarely got even 9 hours of work before my ears started ringing. I wouldn't hesitate to use this amp to drive anything in the near field and honestly it's overkill for the Miccas. I like that everything is analogue, the volume control is analogue so you can see where it is when you turn it on and the connection pins are very secure despite being very close together making it difficult to connect some cables. The power supply and cord have the same arcing problem as almost all amps of this type, and the power cord itself is very loose. The device never gets hot, it doesn't even get hot, and the build quality of the device itself is superb. Unfortunately, the SA50 exhibited the same problems that many others have reported: one of the channels would drop out from time to time, the left channel. The first time this happened I was recently installing new speaker wire I had built thinking maybe the banana had come loose but when I reversed the channels it was clear the wire and speaker were fine. I opened the unit to see if the solder had come loose, but everything was fine. I left it on overnight, put it back on the next day and it worked perfectly. A few days later it kept dropping out, came back the next day. It hasn't gone away since so I'm hoping this is a temporary issue that has come and gone but based on other reviews I expect it will come back. Until then I will keep using it. Nevertheless, I can recommend this amplifier unreservedly. I've easily squeezed every penny out of it even if it hasn't worked a day, and would happily buy the same amp again if I ended up missing it. What you get for the price can't be better, just be aware there are quality control issues and this is not a lifetime purchase.
