Review on 🚪 Child Proof Deluxe Door Top Lock - 2-Pack for 1 3/8 inch Thick Interior Doors by Molly Richards

All door handles in our house are "decorative" variants with a long thin handle, as opposed to round ones. Since we couldn't find any highly rated locks for this type of door handle, this product seemed like our next best choice. We currently have them installed on two doors and despite my 2.5 year old daughter's best efforts these locks held up and kept them in the room when we wanted them to. Installation took no more than a minute, a hole was drilled in the top door frame and the sliding piece just sits over the door with no fixings. I see this as a problem for particularly thin or thick doors, but I suspect our bedroom doors are probably of standard thickness. I like that it's easy to keep the door away from a small child on either side of the door. I'm 5ft 4" and have no problem reaching or operating this lock without the included extension cord. I really want a stronger material because I can definitely see older kids breaking them more easily than younger kids and considering they aren't particularly cheap this is an issue that needs to be addressed. Also note that the door will "give" a little, so if a push/pull would suffice, there is a potential risk of finger breakage if children put their fingers in a gap, push or pull. This has not been a problem so far, like my daughter, it takes strength in both hands to even get a doorknob working, but I see this as a potential problem for stronger kids, certainly as a deterrent, not necessarily a permanent solution to keeping older kids out of the certainty rooms.
