I've been using a $49 Soundblaster USB device for years that has unfortunately been discontinued. I used it to listen to music with the audiotechnica M30x headphones and the music sounded great with great full and crisp sound and a great base. After they discontinued it I bought two new plug and play and now a G3. Everything is absolutely terrible to listen to music. In fact, I get the best sound just by plugging in my headphones and listening to music on my Android phone. The sound is deaf after fiddling with the settings, there's almost no bass, lots of distortion and pops after a while. I'm not sure, whether it's better for gaming but if you want to use it as an external sound card for music, forget it. It actually makes the music worse. I'm in Mexico right now and it's too hard to get it back so it's going in the bin. A complete waste of money.
