Holds 15" laptop securely in place with 2" free on each side for a total of 4" is enough for the mouse when you need it. The hard surface does not block the laptop vents, so the product does its job of keeping your laptop cool. Dense foam and a thick tabletop allow you to elevate the table from your knees to the floor or other surface without fear of the laptop shifting during transport. The fabric is designed for strength, not comfort, and the desk only deserves 1 or 2 stars for "lightness," especially considering the weight of a 15-inch laptop. Being over 60 years old, I found that I often moved my legs or the table for convenience. I don't want to go back so I put a pillow. If an elegant look is a priority, this is a good choice. If comfort is more important, go for lighter. The desk doesn't have a bulky wrist guard, which I think is a plus. Other reviews and photos suggest the slot holds tablets well. I don't have a tablet. The slot is too tight for my phone in a case and too loose for my phone without a case. Disappointing but not a deal breaker. Works for pens.
