I literally poured half the bag into a small storage container, added some water, swirled around and poured the water out 3 times, not even waiting until the water was clear. Then I put it in the tank. It was very cloudy at first, like mud, but the key is to just wait. It works out. I went to bed and the next morning everything was decided. I did the same with the sand I already had (my fish's natural habitat is a sand pad). I planted my plants, dumped sand on it and it didn't even fog up anymore. The sand is still settling as you can see in the photo, but my fish and two mysterious snails are already here and doing great. My fish are used to a bit of billowing sand and the snails don't care. As you can see the substrate works great and your fish will be fine. Do not exaggerate. UPDATE: These are the photos, 36 hours later both substrates are completely clear. Again, don't overdo it. * As you can see by looking at both images, the light changes color and gets darker along the way. Future customers, bad reviews are most likely coming from people who self-destructed the backing (overflushing, heating, chemicals, etc.). To attempt.
