We were able to use the side panel by securing it with a small elastic cord. It stayed in place and provided good protection from the sun while still letting the breeze in. We used this with Rockwood Roo. I've only given it 4 stars for now as I've only used it once and can't confirm its value for money or reliability until more are used.
