This thermal egg timer has the best display on the market. It's easy to see where your egg is at a glance, especially when it's between "SOFT" and "MEDIUM". Egg-shaped heat timers have a slight division between "soft" and "medium": With water boiling, it's hard to see where your egg is. Unfortunately, this timer stinks of water. I fixed it like this: 1) put my (2) timers in a 5 liter pot with fresh water; 2) bring to a boil, simmer gently for 1/2 hour or until the water really stinks; 3) fill with fresh water; 4) Repeat until the stench disappears. This plastic releases a small smelly compound into the water. However, the supply of this smelly molecule is limited. So clean your timer(s) by gently boiling them in plenty of fresh water. For technicians, it's like baking a vacuum line.
