Review on CMT DHG 001 Digital Height Gauge by Chris Chincuanco

I am a long-time satisfied user of CMT cutters. So I am very sorry to say that this tool is untrue and is undermining my trust in this company. It looks like this altimeter was designed by a budding engineer who didn't carefully read the supposed specifications of the product. 0 The device has settings. this would allow the choice between absolute or incremental measurements. However, it is not clear what the zero reference is for absolute measurements; and there is no way to set zero. However, this mode is set to zero in incremental mode. The unit's accuracy is reported as 0.004 inch, which is less than 1/256 inch, but the fractional display only reads 1/32 inch. claim that 1/32 inch seems accurate enough for most woodwork, however most planers and jointers offer a much finer adjustment. Generally I will return mine and consider another manufacturer such as igaging or Wixely.
