Good value for money. Is this the best bookcase on the market? Absolutely not, but they're on par with speakers costing 50% more. The speakers are pretty well finished, including acoustic fiber and a clean crossover. On the other hand, the case is light, so it tends to vibrate at higher volumes. The solution is simple, but not elegant. Place a heavy book on the speaker. At 16kHz the frequency response dips significantly, while there are some peaks and dips in the lower ranges from 128Hz to 800Hz. I highly recommend using an equalizer to help the response. As many will likely use this from a PC. It's easy with the APO Equalizer and Room EQ Wizard (REW). Both are currently free software. To use REW you need a calibrated microphone. For those who want a more audiophile sound, a subwoofer is a must. I will eventually add the sub once I get to my destination. I take them overseas and didn't want to take too many or lose valuable speakers. They thus meet all the requirements of the budget category. One final note: the woofer is 3.5 inches, not 4 inches. This is similar to marketing lower end speakers that include grommets to attach the speaker.
