Review on SATA ST96312SC Adjustable Torque Wrench: All Steel Construction, Dual Scale, 40-200 Nm, with Storage Case by Fred Vazquez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent quality, very accurate, easy to adjust

This is a heavy duty torque wrench, adjustable from 44.25 to 250.77 ft-lbs. The tool offers markings in metric and imperial, but mostly metric, so you'll end up with a lot of fractions on the imperial (US) side. That's my only complaint, but it's no big deal. For example, if you're tightening a wheel to 98 ft-lbs, it's easy enough to set it very close to that exact value. The range of this torque wrench makes it ideal for car and truck wheels and other higher torque applications up to 250 ft-lbs which should cover most home mechanic needs. The wrench comes with a beautiful anodized green handle with a comfortable grip. Works well with gloves as it doesn't pad at all. The kit includes a calibration sheet with serial number and calibration test results in English and Spanish. My wrench was only 0.15% cheaper at 68nm and less than 1% cheaper at 340nm, which is more than acceptable for a wrench in this price range. A nice hard plastic box is included for storing the wrench. Torque adjustment is very smooth and has a locking ring to prevent accidental adjustments. I am very happy with this torque wrench replacing my good but not very accurate and difficult to adjust Tekton 24335. This wrench is very similar to Gearwrench 85066, I'm pretty sure it's made by the same company, all the details seem to be the same but with slightly different torque characteristics and a different handle colour. I would just go with whatever is cheaper when choosing between the two.
